We offer two forms of carpet cleaning
Steam Cleaning
Bonnet Cleaning ( which is also referred to as dry cleaning)
We are fully insured and have been certified in carpet cleaning and upholstery through Advanced Specialised Equipment’s ITI training (International Training Institute)
Steam Cleaning.
This method is also called Hot Water Extraction. This is the only method recommended by carpet manufacturers such as Shaw Industries (the largest carpet manufacturer in the world)
This is the only method classed as DEEP CLEANING.
All other methods are classed as light surface cleaning because they are not capable of removing soil deep in the pile.
All other methods leave large amounts of cleaning solution in the carpet after cleaning has been completed, therefore soil will rapidly re-appear after job has been done.
We use a truck mounted system which cleans deeper and extracts the water from your carpet thoroughly therefore your carpets will be dry between 2-4 hours depending on weather conditions.
We prefer this method above all others because it cleans carpets thoroughly the first time, and you are able to see the results immediately.
Here are the benefits of using a truck mount steam cleaning unit.
- Kills Dust Mites ( due to high temperatures of over 98 degrees Celsius )
- Sanitises ( due to high temperatures)
- Kills Bacteria
- Eliminates most odours
- Cleans more effectively than any other system
- Fast Drying (compared to warm water units)
We use an 8 step cleaning process as per the Australian Standards
- Vacuum carpets
- Pre treatment ( Cleaning agents )
- Agitate carpets ( To get cleaning agents deep into the fibres)
- Cleaning agent dwell time ( To let agents do their job )
- Rinse
- Extraction of water
- Tab & Block of furniture (under legs of tables )
- Grooming of carpet ( To put the carpet pile back in its natural state)
We also offer scotch guarding of carpets and upholstery as am additional service.
Bonnet Cleaning
Although not as effective as Steam Cleaning this method is excellent for places where carpets need to be dry promptly such as clubs and hotels, or in areas where a truck mount cannot get to such as units ,offices and schools, as this method will be dry within the hour.
This method is also excellent as a maintenance cleaning schedule for light to medium soiling.
This method is also known as encapsulation or dry cleaning.
Although this method is known as dry cleaning this is not entirely true as this method still uses some amounts of water in the pre spray and also in the bonnet pads whilst scrubbing the carpet, so it does not burn the carpets from the friction during the cleaning process.
This method works by agitating a cleaning agent into the carpet by a rotary scrubber with a bonnet pad or brush.
The cleaning agent traps or “encapasulates” soil and dries to form a crystal with the trapped soil and is removed by vacuuming.
Any residue that remains in the carpet is in a dry removable state and is classed as soil attracting.
The disadvantages of this method is that it does not remove all soils that are imbedded deep in the carpet.
It also gives the appearance of a clean look on the surface, and if this is the only form of cleaning it can cause heavy residual build up, which will be more difficult to remove.
We are more than happy to offer this service, but we recommend that customers alternate between the two methods in their cleaning schedule.
How Often Should I Clean My Carpets?
If the carpet is cleaned before it becomes too dirty, the cleaning job will much more successful. Allowing the carpet to become too overly soiled in most cases result in irreversible damage.
We recommend at least every 12 months depending on how many residents, amount and type of activity and whether carpet is a light or dark colour. The more the traffic, the more frequently carpets need to be cleaned.
If stains get right down deep into the bottom layer of the fibres chances of getting these stains out are very minimal, without complete carpet restoration.
Think of it like this. You have a brand new car and it has been scratched. If the scratch has only just gone through the clear coats then the chances of repairing this is very good with a buff, but if the scratch has gone all the way down to the undercoat, then the whole panel will have to be re-sprayed, as it has done permanent damage, and you will always be able to tell that that panel has been repaired, as the paint will never be identical.
This goes the same with carpet, if a stain has only penetrated the top layer of the fibres then the chances of removal are quite good with the right Ph balanced products and steam treatment, but if has gone all the way down into the fibres, chances are very minimal and this then becomes carpet restoration.
This can be quite costly and you will always be able to see where the carpet has been restored, and even this method is not always guaranteed.
Tip: The sooner you fix the problem the higher the chance of removal.
Should I use store bought products on stains?
NEVER under any circumstances.
All stains have their own ph balance readings and if you use the wrong product, chances are that you will set the stain permanently, causing irreversible damage.
A lot of these products are soap based, and once used, they attract soil causing a big dark blotch in the area that has been treated with these products making it harder to clean.
One example to avoid is Preen for carpets.
Always call a certified technician.
Professional Carpet cleaning versus Do It Yourself.
The worlds largest carpet manufacturer Shaw industries always recommends using a professional carpet cleaner over the do it yourself method because of huge problems that can occur from using cheap inadequate machines. Some of the problems that can occur are Yellowing, over wetting causing mould and fungus, fibre tip damage and severe re-soiling from using the wrong products, overuse of cleaning agents and browning of carpets, just to name a few.
Caution
Be very weary of the so called carpet cleaning experts who offer dirt cheap prices that are unrealistic, as nine times out ten these operators do not have a clue on how to clean carpets effectively, and have not had any formal training whatsoever.
Most of these operators lure you into your home and use the very sneaky bait and switch techniques, where they advertise at a very low price, then come to do the job and the then say “Oh we are going to need to use some stronger chemicals so we will have to raise the price”.
Another trap is pre-vac of the carpets, where they will try to charge extra for vacuuming, these so called carpet cleaners are shonks, and are causing irreversible damage everywhere, hence giving the qualified carpet cleaners a bad name.
According to Australian Standards
Vacuuming, soil control, pre-treatment and light furniture removal are all part of the job and should not be charged as an added expense.
Tip:
- Ask if operator is certified ( if they are they should have evidence i.e certificate, badges on shirts)
- Ask if they are fully insured and have certificate of currency
- Ask what cleaning process do the follow and can they name them ( i.e the 8 step process. if they do not mention the 8 step process at all then they do not have any training in carpet cleaning)
- Ask what type of machine do they use an inadequate portable machine or a professional truck mount steam cleaning machine
- We cover casual and contract cleaning, and we are committed to excellence.
- We are fully insured
- We take the time the get the job done right
